REACH & CLP

REACH & CLP

We support registration under the REACH Regulation. When a substance or mixture requires REACH registration, we prepare the complete registration dossier, including:

  • commissioning all required registration studies for the substance or mixture,
  • facilitating communication with consortia and assisting in the acquisition of a Letter of Access from the lead registrant,
  • preparing, developing and submitting all registration documents in IUCLID 6,
  • submitting the full dossier to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
REACH

To meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals, companies must identify and manage the risks associated with the substances they manufacture or place on the EU market.

SDS

In addition, Regulation (EU) 2020/878 sets out the rules for preparing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), which provide essential information on chemical substances and mixtures used within the European Union.

Classification, labelling and packaging of substances (CLP)

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) requires manufacturers, importers and downstream users to classify, label and package hazardous chemical substances before placing them on the market.

Annex VIII to the CLP Regulation sets out harmonised requirements for Poison Centres Notifications (PCN). The information submitted in these notifications is used by toxicology centres in emergency situations to ensure an appropriate medical response in incidents involving chemical mixtures.

How CHEMLEX can support you

At CHEMLEX, we provide comprehensive support to ensure full compliance with REACH and CLP, including:

  • registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemical substances,
  • preparation of professional, fully compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS),
  • classification and labelling of substances and mixtures,
  • submission of hazardous mixtures to ECHA PCN,
  • generation of UFI numbers,
  • consultancy on the obligations of manufacturers, importers and downstream users.

REACH

The REACH and CLP Regulations form the foundation of the European chemicals management system. Proper classification, labelling, preparation of Safety Data Sheets and registration of substances are essential to ensure user safety and full regulatory compliance.

CHEMLEX provides comprehensive support in meeting all obligations under both regulations, assisting companies in the correct preparation of documentation and labelling for chemical products.

REACH – our services

Registration of substances and mixtures

We provide end‑to‑end support throughout the registration process, including:

  • commissioning all required registration studies for substances or mixtures,
  • supporting communication with consortia and assisting in the purchase of a Letter of Access,
  • preparing the full registration dossier in IUCLID 6,
  • submitting the documentation to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

REACH‑compliant product audit

We analyse product components to determine:

  • whether registration is required,
  • possible exemptions,
  • compliance with current regulatory requirements.

Documentation updates

We update dossiers for substances and mixtures that have already been registered, ensuring alignment with the latest ECHA requirements.

Safety Data Sheets, UFI and PCN submissions

We prepare Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliant with REACH requirements, assist in generating the UFI (Unique Formula Identifier), and submit information on hazardous mixtures to Poison Centres (PCN) via the ECHA portal.

CLP — the essential basis for correct SDS preparation

REACH and CLP — the essential basis for correct SDS preparation

While the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is prepared in accordance with the REACH Regulation, the key framework for its correct development is CLP — the regulation that defines the criteria for classifying chemical substances and mixtures in terms of hazards to human health and the environment.

CHEMLEX supports companies in meeting all obligations under CLP, ensuring accurate classification, proper labelling and the preparation of EU‑compliant product labels.

Preparation of CLP‑compliant Safety Data Sheets

Preparation of CLP‑compliant Safety Data Sheets

We support the development of Safety Data Sheets that include full CLP classification and labelling, based on the data you provide, such as:

  • the formulation (Technical Data Sheet – TDS),
  • the original Safety Data Sheet in any foreign language — which we adapt to the specific regulatory requirements applicable within the European Union,
  • Safety Data Sheets of individual mixture components,
  • other relevant source materials.

Important information for exporters

Companies placing chemical products on the markets of other EU Member States are required to provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels in the official language of the destination country.

CHEMLEX offers full support in adapting documentation to the linguistic and legal requirements of each market.

CLP

Additional steps where we provide effective support

Important

A change in the CLP classification of a chemical substance typically requires corresponding updates to the product label or accompanying documentation (if no label is used). Companies are obliged to ensure correct and compliant labelling before placing a product on the market.

UFI generation

We assist in generating the UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) whenever it is required for a chemical mixture.

PCN submissions (Poison Centres Notification)

We submit information on hazardous mixtures to Poison Centres (PCN) via the ECHA portal whenever notification is mandatory.

SDS review and updates

We verify the compliance of existing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) with current regulations, identify required changes and update documentation in line with the latest CLP and REACH requirements.

Label content development and verification

We prepare CLP‑compliant label content, review the correctness of existing labels and ensure that all information reflects the specific characteristics of products within the CHEMLEX scope of activity.

Classification change = label change

A change in the CLP classification of a chemical substance typically requires an update to the product label or accompanying documentation.
Businesses are obliged to ensure that the product is correctly labelled before it is placed on the market.
CHEMLEX ensures that your products remain compliant with the latest regulatory requirements and reach the market safely and responsibly.
